Sheikh Mujibur Rahman (17 March 1920 – 15 August 1975), also popularly known in Bangladesh and West Bengal as Bangabandhu (Friend of Bengal) and Sheikh Mujib, was a Bengali politician and the founding leader of Bangladesh. He is generally considered in the country as the Jatir Janak, or Father of the Nation.
